Acheter votre première œuvre d’art, sans appréhension

Votre première œuvre d’art originale, sans appréhension : ce qu’elle coûte vraiment, comment choisir, trois questions à poser et ce qui vous est livré.

Almost everyone who owns art remembers the first piece. It is rarely the most expensive one, and it is almost always the one they would rescue first. If you are close to buying yours, here is the relaxed version of what to expect.

It costs less than you think

We keep a market index of about half a million works that galleries around the world have marked as sold. Of those with a public price, seven in ten sold for less than 5,000 dollars, and more than a quarter for less than 1,000. First purchases are not the exception in this market; they are most of it. On this site every work shows its price, in your currency if you prefer, and a whole collection sits under 1,000 dollars.

Choose with your eyes, then with your head

Look slowly. Browse the works available or the curated collections, save the ones that stop you and come back a week later. The piece you still think about is usually the one. Paintings are more than half of what sells, but a drawing, a print or a small sculpture is just as real a way to begin.

Three questions worth asking

Is it unique or an edition? Both are original; an edition simply says how many exist.

What comes with it? A signed certificate of authenticity, not just an email.

What does delivery cost? You should see it before you pay. Here you enter your country and postal code on the work's page and the options appear.

What arrives at your door

The work, insured for what you paid from the moment it is collected until you sign for it, an invoice, and its certificate, which you can also keep in your phone's wallet. If you are in Mexico City you can see the work first, by appointment, and take it home yourself.

Two small questions

Do I need to know about art?

No. You need to like the work and to get honest answers. The rest comes with time, and with the second piece.

What if I change my mind?

The terms are on the Returns & delivery page. Read them before paying, as you would for anything else.

If you would like company

This is what we do every day from Mexico City: help people find, buy and live with original contemporary art. Book a free 30-minute call, or simply look at the works available now.
